the little black {and white striped} dress

this is one thing i think every lady should have in her closet- a black and white striped dress.  i wear mine constantly!  you might remember it from here (yes, i rolled it under to make it shorter and dressed it up a little with heels).  but i've also worn it a bunch with black booties and my levis vest.  it's so easily dressed up or down, i love it even more for it's versatility.  and can we talk about this clare vivier oversized clutch for a minute?  i want to live in it.  totally obsessed.  {more after the jump}

roasted garlic/cauliflower soup with pesto

sometimes when you have a hungry-bordering-on-grumpy husband and nothing but a head of cauliflower in your fridge you've got to think fast.  and that's how this happy accident entered our lives.  the beauty of it is in the simplicity.  just a handful of ingredients, super easy preparation and presto you have a hearty, warm, satisfying meal.  also, another lesson in why one should always, ALWAYS have pesto on hand or in the freezer.  and lastly: i apologize for the similar appearance of this and my last food post.  i guess we're doing creamy white foods and pesto this week.  more color next week, i promise.  and i'll be back later today with some links for your weekend.  have a great one!  xx- sarah  {more after the jump}

a dreamy home tour

we've made zero progress on the house since this, but that doesn't mean i haven't been fantasizing about it like crazy!  and when i stumbled across this house tour i think the pangs of jealousy i felt compared to appendicitis.  i've never had it but it's what i imagine.   isn't it bright, cozy and lovely?   and that brass & leather stool has been on my wishlist since last year.  living vicariously my friends....  xx- sarah

boyfriend jeans, at long last

as i mentioned here, i've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans.  and.... i finally found them!  perfectly distressed, slouchy without being completely obnoxious, an amazing shade of blue, and affordable!  winning all over the place!  i'm pleased as punch.  i wore them here with a favorite pink blouse, some suede wedges and some of my favorite gold jewelry for a completely easy daytime outfit!  oh boyfriend jeans, how do i love thee...

white bean dip with pesto

this white bean dip with pesto is so quick to whip up and the perfect satisfying snack to get you through until your next meal.  it can also be eaten as you would hummus- spread in a wrap, on veggies, pita and crackers.  if you don't have pesto already made (see this recipe for how-to pesto) it takes a bit longer, but can also be eaten without the pesto or with harissa! it's healthy, easy and completely satisfying.  hope you love!  xx- sarah  {more after the jump}

neons and neutrals, oh my!

happy monday everyone!  sorry i didn't get around to doing my friday roundup this week, i was in the throes of planning/co-hosting a birds of a feather craft party at our house!  if you search the hashtag #birdsinatreecraftparty on instagram you'll see some of the fun photos from the day.  and i'll be sharing the ones that the birds of a feather girls took soon too.  it was amazing!!!  and so fun seeing our friends enjoy our house at our first ever party! 

in completely unrelated  news:  i'm newly in love.  with these shoes.  that are ON SALE FOR FIFTY DOLLARS!  actually, almost the entire outfit is on sale!  and yes, i'm patting myself on the back for this one as i strut around in my neutrals with a pair of shoes so brightly colored you'll need your shades on to peep them.  what a great weekend!  i hope yours was as well!   xx- sarah
