Happy Monday friends! I've been on a no super cold foods thing since January per the instructions of my acupuncturist. But this weekend I broke, and I broke hard. It was a chocolate peanut butter shake that did me in. It's such a simple drink to whip up, full of healthy things, and utterly decadent. I suggest you make one, even if your acupuncturist advises against it. Because really, what's one chocolate peanut butter shake gonna do? And how is a girl supposed to live for more than three months without one? SHE ISN'T!!! xx- Sarah {recipe after the jump}

Happy Friday everyone! I am full on in the throes of decorating so houses and design is pretty much all I can think about. Which, for a gal like myself, is just pure FUN! So today I wanted to share a little home inspiration from down under. I don't know if I'm more obsessed with koala bears, Australia in it's entirety or this house. All three are pretty much so loaded with awesomeness that I can hardly stand myself. Can a family in Australia adopt us please? We'll cook for you and take photos of your dogs like no other, I promise! See more of this amazing space after the jump and have an incredible weekend my friends! xx- Sarah (images via)

I know style posts have been few and far between lately, but that's only because I'm using all our resources to finish the house! But this romper, for $110, begged to be mine. Like seriously begged and pleaded and gave me puppy dog eyes. And who am I to refuse a sexy black deal like that? That would just be wrong. So in one quick click it joined my closet family! And on a completely unrelated note, I couldn't take the bang grow out for even a minute longer, I chopped them back and haven't doubted it for a second. I guess maybe I'm just meant to have the same hair for the rest of my life. I better get used to it! xx- Sarah {more after the jump}

I'm not going to lie to you, I would marry these crispy peanut butter chocolate balls if marrying chocolate balls was a thing. They are insane, the kind of crazy that's so good it borders on bad. The kind of crazy that's best made to share because there's pretty much no chance of resisting them once you have a batch of them in your refrigerator and THEY WILL BE EATEN ALL AT ONCE, if they have their way with you! You've been warned. Have at them! xx- Sarah

I'm so happy that you all loved last week's Home Ec post so much, it's so incredible for me when something I've worked really hard on and am super excited about is such a hit with you all as well! After we tackled the cleaning products it was on to homemade soaps- grapefruit lavender and coconut mint to be exact! These are just sooo pretty, fun and full of good-for-you ingredients, I'm a little smitten kitten. They're the perfect treat for your skin, your nose, your peace of mind. The best part- they are seriously crazy easy to make. And wouldn't they make the sweetest gifts wrapped up in linen and tied with baker's twine? They smell so good I want to eat them! Ok, have at them! xx- Sarah

It took me five rounds of batter and failed crepes to get this recipe right, there were many a crepetastrophe! But in the end it was worth every bit of it, they're so delicious and the perfect weekend brunch treat! Filled with chocolate hazelnut spread and bananas- they're divine. I do have to warn you, getting the crepes perfectly thin in the pan takes a bit of practice. The trick, I found, involves moving the pan around to spread the batter as soon as you pour and using just the right amount of batter. Once you nail it though, I think you're good for life. And then you have years of vegan, gluten free crepes in your future. And what a future it is!!! Enjoy! xx- Sarah

Happy Friday everyone! WHAT A WEEK!!! Phew, I'm SO ready for the weekend. Does everyone else feel that way? I'd like one of those blood orange and thyme Palomas please! I could probably write a novel today but I'll try to keep it short. First, I'm so happy you all liked yesterday's post as much as I did! Next up....homemade beauty products, which I'm hopeful will be equally fun. And then I have a long list of ideas for the future to tackle, I'm feeling so inspired right now. Isn't that the best?!
I have a question for you- so many of you have left comments here, on Instagram and Facebook asking me to write a cookbook, which is hugely flattering. My question is, if I were to tackle that project, is there anything specific that you would love to see? No promises, I'm just trying to guage interest and see if maybe there's something that I could include in a cookbook that's not on this site and would love to hear what might be inspiring for you! Thanks so much in advance! A list of links for your weekend after the jump. And I'll be back tomorrow with a weekend style post so pop on back if you get the chance! Wishing you all a most relaxing and refreshing weekend! xx- Sarah (image via Jen/Birds of a Feather for The Life Styled)
]]>I've been meaning to tackle this for the longest time and I'm actually giddy to be sitting down to write this post! Is that a weird thing to be giddy about?! Probably. But I don't care because today I'm sharing recipes for 6 household cleaning products that are made from the simplest ingredients, most of which are so common there's a good chance they're already living in your cupboards. Rad, right?! AND, those cute labels, they were designed by the incredibly talented designer Judy Hsu and are available for you to download and print out for yourself! Because cleaning isn't fun, at least not for this girl! So at least it can involve cute, inexpensive, GREEN products. Triple Yes! And I've made it as simple as possible for you below with a complete list of everything you'll need to make your own personal cleaning arsenal, including those adorable bottles!
I know this post is a deviation from the norm around here and I hope you love it! I'm trying to mix things up a little, devoting more time to some fun posts like this that I've been wanting to do for SO long! I'm also taking on a few more sponsored posts, which means that companies pay me to share their products with you, or tell you about what they're up to. I will always note these posts are sponsored so there's no shady shaderson going on over here. And I'll also remain committed to sharing brands with you that are a good fit for me + you. Ultimately I hope they're posts that you love as much as the others Most importantly they'll give me the freedom to spend more time on things like this post, which is MAJOR EXCITING! At least for me, and I truly hope for you too! Thank you so much for reading, for being such a great part of my days, for all your kindness. So, SO MUCH MORE after the jump! xx- Sarah

Happy Wednesday friends! Thanks so much for sharing the excitement with us about the move and vacation rental! I re-read yesterday's post and realized I was kind of vague about why we're leaving the desert and I don't want to be that vague writer that doesn't talk about what's REALLY going on, even when it's not truly a juicy story. So here's the skinny: We've really struggled with meeting people and making friends in Palm Springs. For the first 15 months we literally knew no one except our real estate agent. Because of that we were constantly going into LA and San Diego to spend time with friends, or having friends come out for the weekend. Every attempt we made to meet people was a dead end and kind of laughable (senior citizen tennis lessons anyone?). Being that we both work from home and have no industry base here in the desert, there was a lot of US time, maybe too much US time to be honest.
Since that point we've met some great people, but it takes time to turn brand new friendships into the kind of friendships that we have in our old hometowns, of course. And the great people we have met are still very few in numbers, lead busy lives and are already established with their own friends here. All of this is a very typical experience for moving to a new town, but we're at a point in our lives where our friendships are high up there on the MOST IMPORTANT list. Living so far from the ones we love the most is harder than we anticipated, and even the sweetest house in the desert is pretty lonely when you can only share it with friends on occasion. So there it is. We shall live in a nearly empty two bedroom apartment to be closer to the ones we love, very happily. Home, as they say, is where the heart is. Thanks again for your support and excitment for us! Recipe for these seriously tasty thyme roasted heirloom carrots after the jump! xx- Sarah
